Paternoster Privacy Policy

Paternoster is an app for praying and listening to the Our Father. It is made by VARGER Group LLC, based in Conroe, Texas, United States. This policy explains, in plain words, what data the app touches and what it does with it.
The essentials, in four sentences
- We never ask for your name, email or password. The whole app works without an account.
- Your prayer requests and thanksgivings are stored on your phone, encrypted. We cannot read them.
- No ads, no data selling, no advertising SDKs.
- Praying is always free.
What is stored on your phone
- Your prayers (date, language, duration), your streak days and your challenges.
- Your settings: languages, reminder time, sound, watch.
- Your requests and thanksgivings. These texts are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before being saved. The key lives in your phone's secure store (Keychain on iOS, Keystore on Android) and never leaves it.
- The signature of your commitment ("My commitment" screen). It never leaves the phone.

Backup is off by default. If you turn it on, we create an anonymous identity for you (a random number, no name or email). What we upload of your requests are encrypted bytes; the key stays only on your phone, so neither VARGER nor Supabase can read them.
Analytics
We use PostHog to learn which screens are used and where the app fails. Events carry an anonymous identifier, the language and technical device data. They never carry text you type and never identify you as a person. We do not use Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework because we do not track.
Purchases
The payment is called "Sostén Paternoster" (Paternoster Support). Apple or Google process it with your store account; we never see your card. RevenueCat tells us whether your support is active. We keep an accounting record of the purchase under an anonymous identifier, without your name.
Notifications
If you accept, we remind you of your prayer time with local notifications. They are scheduled on your phone; they do not go through our servers.
Children
The app is rated 4+ / Everyone. We do not collect data directed at children and we show no advertising.
How to delete your data
- Settings → Delete my data is the complete deletion: it deletes the database on your phone, destroys the encryption key in the secure store and, if you have backup on, your cloud data too.
- Uninstalling the app deletes the database on your phone. On iPhone, the encryption key may remain in the system Keychain; without the database there is nothing left for it to read. If you also want the key gone, use Settings → Delete my data first and then uninstall.
- Turning backup off deletes your cloud data immediately.
- Anonymous analytics cannot be linked to you, so there is nothing to delete by name. If you want us to try anyway, write to us.
How long we keep data
Local data, as long as you have the app. Backup and purchase records in our database, while you keep the app and backup on; they are fully deleted when you use “Settings → Delete my data”. Apple, Google and RevenueCat keep their own purchase records under their policies.
Who we share with
Only with the providers that make the app work: Apple, Google, RevenueCat, PostHog and Supabase. Each receives the minimum described above. We never sell or rent data to anyone.
Your rights
You may ask us for access, correction or deletion of any data we hold about you (which, apart from the encrypted backup, is close to nothing). We reply within 30 days.
Changes
If this policy changes, we update the date above and let you know inside the app.
